Kenton is often overlooked for the better-known neighborhoods in Portland like the Pearl District, Nob Hill and the West end, especially when it comes to tourists.
In recent years, it has been gaining attraction from tourists and locals alike with the iconic Paul Bunyan Statue, a growing creative scene, affordable real estate and the perfect blend of old and modern all close to both the airport and downtown PDX.
However, one aspect of Kenton that cannot be missed is their food scene. Our neighborhood is full of cafés and restaurants with mouth-watering menus to offer visitors.

5. Presso Coffee Co // for specialty coffee & light brunch
If you are a coffee person then you’ve got to go to Presso. They roast their beans locally every 2-3 days to guarantee a rich and smooth coffee every time. Plus seasonal drinks, avocado toast and fresh pastries.Whether you are on the go or having a proper brunch date, Presso is a great choice.
We recommend you to try: An americano with salmon toast – delish!

4. Swift and Union // more than brunch!
Honestly, their brunch rocks but so does everything else on their menu. A proud Kenton diner with a history deeply rooted in the neighborhood, serving a complete menu and cocktails to start your day right.
From full breakfast plates and eggs Benedict, to french toast and egg scrambles, you can opt for the vegetarian options or enjoy their Kenton Special to cure your hangover after a night out.
Do check out their whole menu because they don’t mess around with their burgers, sandwiches and sides. You can also take home a Jar of Bacon Jam.
We recommend you to try: The Paul Bunyan. Vegetarian gravy, biscuit, crispy or seared kale, fried eggs. Served with fried potatoes. Sounds tasty? Trust us, it is.

3. Po'Shines Cafe De La Sou // Kenton Soul Food.
A truly local contemporary soul food Restaurant with a Cajun flair. They don’t just serve good food, they serve an experience. Plus, its founding goes way back to 1990 and its team and staff have a long history of activism and philanthropy. Check it out on their website.
Breakfast is served all day including all the classic breakfast or brunch choices you could want – bacon, omelettes, waffles and fried chicken.
They also have proper sandwiches if you are feeling extra hungry.
We recommend you to try: The Fried Chicken Plate. Your choice of 2 eggs any style, hash browns, home fries, grits. Your choice of toast, biscuit, English muffin. Topped w/ country gravy. Yes. You are welcome.

2. Posies Bakery & Café // if you have a sweet tooth!
Posy has become a staple with residents over the last few years. Three words –homemade baked goods!
They literally bake everything fresh and themselves. You’ve got granola, avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches, bagels and salads. And so many cookies, cakes and more! Also, if you’ve got an event coming up you can send it special orders for cakes and cupakes.
We recommend you to try: Their golden milk steamer drink and the peanut butter banana toast.

1. Derby Kenton // brunch, music, cocktails, drag queens, you name it.
If you’re looking for great brunch and even better atmosphere, then look no further than Derby. Derby is a relatively new addition to Kenton’s foodie scene. Their brunch menu deserves a solid 10/10 but their involvement with the community deserves a solid 20. Whether you’re craving some French toast or need something more filling with a giant omelette or classic eggs Benedict, their menu has something for everyone. Also, be sure to check their IG as they have jazz nights, live music, drag bingo and so many other cool events!
